Dr. Matthews transitioned from a successful career in finance to pursue his passion for serving others in the healthcare field. He immediately fell in love with dentistry’s unique blend of artistry and hands-on care, finding joy in creating beautiful smiles.Committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment, Dr. Matthews has built a practice dedicated to delivering exceptional care and comfort to every patient who walks through the door. Dr. Matthews’ journey has taken him across the U.S., from California to South Carolina, but he’s delighted to call Blacksburg, VA, home. He cherishes family time and enjoys exploring the outdoors with his wife, Melanie, and their son, Rivers. Together, they share a love for adventure—backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and downhill skiing. An avid cyclist, Dr. Matthews embraces an active lifestyle and can often be found riding his bike. For him, a crisp autumn afternoon spent cycling Virginia’s winding roads is the recipe for a perfect day.Dr. Matthews also nurtures his childhood passion for woodworking and loves working on home improvement projects or crafting unique pieces alongside his son. In addition, he’s an enthusiastic reader, constantly immersed in a new book—whether it’s a biography on George Washington, a self-improvement guide, or an engaging work of fiction, he’s always eager to learn and grow.
